Dr. Shu earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, his master’s in business administration from New York University Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University. A member of the American Board of Anesthesiology and the China AIDS Fund Board of Directors, he resides in Melville. Before joining CHS, Dr. Shu was project director of an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) for Jersey City Medical Center, where he held various positions since 2008. He instituted clinical practice changes within the ACO to achieve best practices in areas including bundled payment care, inpatient pain and symptom management program, outpatient cancer rehabilitation program and improving patient satisfaction. At the same time, Dr. Shu served as chair of the medical staff peer review, director of the electronic medical record implementation and director of continuing medical education, after having held other posts. Prior to his tenure at Jersey City Medical Center, Dr. Shu was director of trauma and anesthesiologist for Liberty Anesthesia Associates in the same city, following appointments at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Elmhurst Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital.
